MEDICAL TOURISM IN PANAMA?

Panama city offers excellent health care and very modern hospitals such as John Hopkins Hospital in Punta Pacifica (Central Panama). More and more foreigners are moving to Panama not only for the luxurious lifestyles and warm climates but also for the amazing health care benefits and service.

Most medical procedures would cost you thousands of dollars in the US, Canada or UK, and not to forget you may have to wait months or even years for the most common procedures. Panama offers state of the art facilities, superb and professional doctors, immediate attention and lower costs for all medical procedures.

Many Panamanian doctors are U.S.-trained, and the standards at the top hospitals compare favorably with those in the United States and many other parts of the world.

Private health insurance is available and much less expensive than insurance in the United States (because doctor's fees and hospital visits are much cheaper). Two more reasons why health insurance here is so affordable: 1) malpractice insurance is very low because the laws do not allow for frivolous lawsuits; and 2) the median income is around $300 a month, so health care cannot be expensive or no one would use it.

Prices for prescription drugs are low as well, because manufacturers price them for the market. Plus, many drugs that require a prescription in the States are available over the counter in Panama.
